GPS Waypoints for the Pennine Way

Q. I see that you are planning to include GPS waypoint information for the pennine way at some point, do you have an estimate when it would be available on your website?

Also, is there an individual rate for downloading such waypoint information? I am from Canada and only need a couple downloads as I will be in the UK only a (unfortunately) short time....

A. Ready now - just click here for a full set of Downloadable GPS Waypoints for the Pennine Way

The Pennine Way is a 257mile - 15 day hike minimum with most people taking 22 or 23 days (though I believe the World Record is 3 days and 4 hours - give or take a few minutes).

With a GPS Device, our Waypoints and the latest OS Explorer 1:25 000 maps (you should not attempt to walk The Pennine way without the right maps) - you will probably have enough info for the whole trip - assuming you can map read.

For the most part, the route is well marked on the ground and clearly shown on all the latest maps - so you probably won't need a heavy, out-of-date guidebook* (circa £15?).

We reckon 218 GPS Waypoints covering the whole path for £14.95 is pretty reasonable. If a group of 3 or 4 of you take 23 days to walk the Pennine Way that works out at less than 16p/day/person to make sure you stay on the right path.

Believe me if our GPS waypoints for the Pennine Way prevent you going just 500m the wrong way when you are carrying a big heavy rucksack - and you are tired - and cold - and wet - and depressed - you'll be really glad you've got them.

Hope this helps
