Q. Dear Editor
I have joined go4awalk.com to make use of your GPS downloadable system. I already have Memory Map Digital Mapping Software which I presume you would describe as a ‘GPS Utility’ for which I wish to download the waypoints. Despite my best efforts I cannot see any way in which this will work. I cannot import the .txt file.
Having purchased an etrex and Memory Map software, I am reluctant to look at your recommended utility which is time limited (Not true Ed.) and fundamentally seems to do the same job as the memory map.
Could you please help me solve this?
Yours faithfully
Peter Harrison

A. I would describe Memory Map as a Digital Mapping Product not a GPS Utility. As far as I am aware, you can only upload and download GPS Waypoints in its own proprietary file format. This is true of the other leading digital mapping products such as Fugawi and Anquet.
The GPS Utility we recommend is not time limited - the Free version is simply a little limited in scope. However, you can still use it for uploading and downloading every single go4awalk.com GPS Waypoint file and it is completely free and extremely reliable.
Once you have got you GPS Waypoints into your GPS you can then download them to your Digital Mapping Software to plot your route if your wish - but you do need to get them into your GPS with our recommended GPS Utility first.
Hope this helps Ed.
