Q. I have noted with interest the queries about new boots rubbing etc.
Like many people my right foot is larger than my left, at least a half to a full shoe size (due to a bunion) so I accept that properly fitted boots by a trained boot fitter is required.
Due to my left foot slipping in the boot I have had a number of blisters - I've tried all the lacing techniques, re-tightening after a while, plus and minus inner socks, all leave my feet feeling that they are in a clamp.
What is the general opinion of 'footbeds' would these help to make my walks more comfortable?
Alan Lever, Barnsley, South Yorkshire
A. I would suggest one of two options. One being the Footbed option, the other being a tongue depressor. Both would reduce the volume in the boot help prevent slippage. Also certain companies can stretch boots to allow for bunions so in future a oversized boot would not be needed.
