Is there an alternative to Crib Goch?

Q. We are planning to climb Snowdon and would like to try the Crib Goch route - see Walks gw136 gw153 gw198 - but seeing photos of it, I feel rather daunted!

We're experienced walkers, but have done very little scrambling (Striding Edge and a bit on Scafell Pike only).

Is it possible to still do Crib Goch, but avoid the worst of the scrambling bits?

We would also like to take a dog if possible.

Janice Hoare, Wakefield

A. The simple answer is no. All the alternative routes avoid Crib Goch completely so I'm afraid it is all or nothing.

Hope this helps
