Q. Fantastic website - quite the best I have found.
We were just wondering though which of your many walks would you recommend for children?
Our two boys are 9 and 12 and both love the outdoors.
Thanks very much in anticipation and keep up the good work.

A.Hi Lucy, thanks for your comments. Much appreciated.
We don't indicate which our walks are suitable for children - since it all depends on the age of your kids and their ability.
However, our grading system gives a good indication of the type of walk you will encounter i.e:
| Grade |
Description |
|
|
A gentle stroll, 5 miles or less on flat terrain. |
||
| A
pleasant afternoon walk over 5 miles |
||
| Gentle
ascents and descents, 5 miles or longer |
||
| Harder
ascents up to 1000ft, 5 miles or longer |
||
| 4
to 6 hour walk in the Derbyshire Peaks |
||
| Single
Lake District Summit |
||
| A
couple of Lake District Summits/Single Scottish Summit |
||
| Multiple
Lake District Summits/Couple of Scottish Summits |
||
| Full
Day Hike in the High Mountains/Multiple Scottish Summits |
||
These grades are indicated on each walk description and on our interactive walk selection maps (click here to see an example)
You know your children best and what they are capable of so we think it best that you pick walks of a grade that you think are suitable for them.
Any particular difficulty that might be encountered along the way, such as scrambling on rocks or walking along a narrow aréte, is indicated on the walk route pdf itself.
Incidentally, this equally applies to older children of - say - over 45 (of which I am one!)
Hope this helps
