Bruised Ankles when walking

Q. I have a problem with my (relativley new) walking boots.

After about an hour or 2 of walking I get what feels like a bruised inner ankle bone - yet there is no visible bruising.

It's agony! Any ideas?

A. Sounds like the Scree Cuff is to high for you and/or you have the very top of your boot tied too tight round you ankles. Try slackening it off a bit or don't include the topmost eyelets/lugs when you lace your walking boots up.

If the problem persists, invest in new boots with a lower scree cuff. A specialist walking gear shop should be able to advise you.

To see which bit of your walking boot constitutes the Scree Cuff - see the diagram on our Walking Boots Gear Guide pdf available from our Walking Boots Gear Guide page.

Hope this helps
