I want a pair of waterproof Walking Boots

Q. In the past 2 years or so I have bought 5 pairs of walking boots - my first question to the sales assistant is "I want a pair of waterproof walking boots".

All 5 have failed to meet this requirement so have been taken back. I am pleased to say that so far they have all been sent away and refunded / replaced. I have never specified a budget - just this single requirement - but I have always ended up spending around £80-120.

My current pair have lasted just a year but are now leaking. They are used most days for 4 miles or so walking the dog in easy walking country - plus some more demanding walks.

Am I being unreasonable to expect them to last more than a few months? Does any manufacturer give a 5 year / 5000 mile guarantee?
