Q. Several lady members of our local walking group suffer with a rash around the ankles when having walked in the hot weather. (The male members do not seem to have this). Can anyone explain why and suggest a remedy as it takes around 5 days before it disappears and prevents us from wearing skirts/dresses during this time as it looks so ugly.

A. This subject was being researched by a doctor some years ago in Country Walking - it looks as if it has now been diagnosed or at least been given a name - Golfer's Vasculitis.
No real known cause apart from the effects of heat on the blood vessels and also affecting some of a certain age, possibly. It can leave scarring for quite a few days but eventually disappears completely without any permanent problem.
